Thursday Competitive League

Thursday Night Competitive League

The Thursday Night Competitive League is an all doubles, adult house league, tailored to A, B, and high-level C Ajax Tennis Club members.

Registration: Click here to register.

Player Eligibility & Selection:

  • This league is highly competitive. Players who participated on a DRCTL Competitive Division team last summer are automatically eligible to register; however, eligibility does not guarantee selection to the league roster.
  • Players who did not participate on a DRCTL Competitive Division team last summer may be required to meet with the Club Pro, where playing level will be assessed.
  • Final selection of the league roster will be made by the ATC Club Pro.

Dates & Weekly Timeslots:

  • Start/End Date: May 7th – Oct 1st
  • Two timeslots run each Thursday night:

               • 7:00 – 8:30 PM

               • 8:30 – 10:00 PM

  • Important: Players must be available for both timeslots every week to participate in this league.

League Capacity & Playing Frequency:

  • Maximum registrants: 40 total (male & female)
  • Weekly players: 32 players per week
  • If selected, players can expect to play a minimum of 4 out of every 5 weeks and may be asked to sub in during bye weeks to cover player absences.
  • Players register individually (no partner required)

League Format:

  • The league is gender-blind: Any combination of male and female players may be assigned to a court.
  • By Monday each week, the League Coordinator will email the playing roster (with assigned timeslots) and the bye roster (players not scheduled to play that week).
  • In Week 1, players are assigned to a court with three others based on assessed playing level.
  • The league follows a Progressive Format and each league night, players rotate partners to play 1 set of 6 games with each partner and 1 tiebreak
  • At the end of the 90-minute timeslot, players report their total games won to the league coordinator.
  • Weekly Movement: 1st & 2nd place → move up a court | 3rd & 4th place → move down a court
