Welcome to the B-Team!

The B-Team is a highly competitive group at our club, designed for players who are ready to challenge themselves at a high level of play. Our B-Team members are dedicated athletes who demonstrate strong skills, a commitment to improvement, and a passion for the game.

Eligibility & Requirements:
To join the B-Team, players must demonstrate a high level of skill and competitive drive, with an OTA rating of 3.5-4.0. Whether you are invited or selected through tryouts, all members are expected to be committed to regular practices and matches. There are no age restrictions for the B-Team.

We’re excited to announce that our competitive team tryouts will take place under the tennis bubble on April 5 and April 12 from 2:00–4:00 PM. Tennis Clubs of Canada has generously agreed to allow us to use their facilities for these sessions. More details on the schedule and how to register will be shared soon. Team Structure

The Ajax B Teams for the Durham Region Competitive Tennis League will be organized to align with the league’s established structure. Players will be selected to fill specific spots, ensuring that the team is competitive and meet league requirements. The team will consist of three Men’s Doubles pairs, two Mixed Doubles pairs, and one Ladies Doubles pair and substitutes. The players will also select a captain or two co-captains who will be responsible for arranging practices, scheduling players, and managing overall communication for the team. Player selection will focus on identifying players who demonstrate strong skills, teamwork, and commitment to representing Ajax at a high level of competition.

Substitutes:  

C-Team members may substitute for the B-Team up to three times during the season. According to league rules, if a player participates in four matches at the higher level, they will be officially promoted to that level. Once promoted, the player will be considered a B-Team member and may only compete at the B-Team level for the remainder of the season.

Team Weekly Match Schedule

Each Wednesday evening will consist of two sessions of play:

First Session:

• Begin's at 7:00 PM - players required to arrive by 6:45 PM
• Matches start by 7:15 PM after a 15-minute warm-up
• B Division Match lineup: Mixed (1), Mixed (2), Ladies (1)

Second Session:

• Begins as soon as courts are available, but no earlier than 8:30 PM.
• Players are required to arrive no later than 8:30 PM.
• A Division Match lineup: Men’s (1), Men’s (2), Men’s (3).

Team Achievements:

• 2024 – Placed 5th in the Durham Region Competitive Legue

Executive Committee Message:

We’ve heard from our members that there is interest in adding a second B-Team to the roster of competitive teams at Ajax Tennis Club. We appreciate the feedback and are open to exploring this possibility.

Throughout the 2025 season, we will be discussing this idea with members to ensure we gather all the necessary information to make a thoughtful and well-informed decision. Our goal is to ensure that Ajax Tennis Club remains strong and competitive across all three levels—A, B, and C.

As we assess interest, logistics, and league requirements, we will also consider whether a second B-Team might be viable for the following summer. However, at this stage, we are in the information-gathering phase, and no decisions have been made.

We encourage members to share their thoughts and participate in the conversation as we evaluate the best path forward for our club’s competitive teams.
