C Team

The C-Team is designed for players who are looking to develop their competitive skills and take their game to the next level. This team provides a supportive environment where players can challenge themselves while improving their technique and strategy. During tryouts, if we find players who demonstrate the potential to compete at a B-level of play, we may suggest that they join our B Team. This ensures that each player is placed in the most appropriate team for their skill level, helping to foster growth, teamwork, and a competitive spirit within our club.
Eligibility & Requirements:
To join the C-Team, players should demonstrate a solid level of skill and competitive drive, with an OTA rating of 3.0-3.5. Whether selected through tryouts or by invitation, all members are expected to commit to regular practices and matches. Players must be at least 15 years of age to be eligible to play on the C-Team.

Team Structure
The Ajax C-Team for the Durham Region Competitive Tennis League will be organized to align with the league’s established structure. Players will be selected to fill specific spots, ensuring that the team is competitive and meets league requirements. The team will consist of three Men’s Doubles pairs, two Mixed Doubles pairs, and two Ladies Doubles pair and substitutes. The C-Team players will also select a captain or two co-captains who will be responsible for arranging practices, scheduling players, and managing overall communication for the team. Player selection will focus on identifying players who demonstrate strong skills, teamwork, and commitment to representing Ajax at a high level of competition.
Substitutes
C-Team members are allowed to substitute for the B-Team up to three times during the season. According to league rules, if a player participates in four matches at the higher level, they will be officially promoted to that level. Once promoted, the player will be considered a B-Team member and will no longer be eligible to compete on the C-Team for the remainder of the season.
If a C-Team player is promoted, the B-Team co-captains will select one of the substitutes to fill the regular team position on the C-Team. This ensures continuity and competitiveness for the team throughout the season.
It is important to note that there is no guarantee of play for C-Team substitutes during the season. The C-Team’s goal is to always field the strongest team possible with the aim of becoming Durham League champions each year. Playing time for substitutes will be at the discretion of the co-captains, who will determine if and when substitutions are necessary based on player performance and the needs of the team. Substitutes will practice with the team but may not play in matches or may play only a limited number of times.
