Durham Ladies Tennis League

The Durham Ladies Tennis League is a long-standing, casual yet competitive league open to players who enjoy a friendly, low-pressure environment. With over 30 years of history, the league is a cherished tradition for Durham area clubs.

When & Where:

  • Play Schedule: Matches are held on Tuesdays at 9:30 am for 10 weeks starting in early June (start date to be confirmed).  Play typically concludes by noon.
  • Year-End Celebration: A round-robin tournament and luncheon are held at Glendale Tennis Club at the end of August to celebrate the season’s achievements.

Match Format:

  • Matches are played as best-of-three sets and the third set is decided by a 10-point “super” tiebreaker.

League Structure:

The league usually features six teams representing the following clubs: Ajax, Dunmore, Glendale, Oshawa, Amberlea/Maple Ridge, and Whitby. For 2025, Ajax is expecting to field a single team of three lines(courts) 6 players total weekly.

Membership & Participation:

  • Open Membership: There are no official tryouts. New members are welcomed and assessed by the team captain alongside at least ive member to ensure a good fit. 
  • Registration: A registration link will be posted once the Coordinators have confirmed the start date for the season - stay tuned!
  • Player Levels: The league is open to players at A, B, and C levels, with a focus on creating a competitive yet sociable atmosphere.
  • Organization: The Ajax team captain will coordinate with the other clubs to schedule matches and track league results. A copy of the rules can be found here.
