ANNUAL TOURNAMENTS INCLUDE -

1. The Memorial Tournament (November)- Members only entry.  Playing for the women's Loretta Copping Placque and the men's Doug Lawson Plaque.

2. The Brudermann Cup  (October) - Members only entry.  This is a round-robin competition named after and sponsored by Friedl Brudermann, a long time Club member and much appreciated benefactor of the Club. 

3. The JURA Cup (June) - Originated by June (JU) and Ralph (RA) Meyer and sponsored by them for many years, this continues to be a fun Mixed Doubles event with lots of energy and great tennis! 

4. SRC Tennis Anniversary Tournament (May) - Members only entry, round-robin format,  celebrating the Club, its volunteer members and the Club's achievements. 

5. Singles Tournament (February) - new competiton in 2024, Open to men and women members, kick starts the season in February.

6. Spring Fling Women's Doubles Tournament (March) - Members only tournament, enjoying competitive tennis.

7. Spring Sting Men's Doubles Tournament  (April) - Members only tournament, challenging each other to win the title.

Saturday-Sunday June 15-16th 2024 - The Jura Cup

The 2024 Jura Cup was yet again a popular event that attracted a big entry for a mixed doubles tennis tourney.  The competition was big on energy, tiebreaks and great atmosphere! 

June Meyer very kindly provided prizes for the winners of the JURA Cup (so named after her and her late husband, Ralph, who loved his tennis!).  Our thanks to June for providing and presenting the prizes and to friends/past members of the Club who came to watch.

The only downside was the power outage on Saturday afternoon just as the semi-finals were about to start.  This meant our Tournament Director Dave Surette had to think quickly as we were plunged into darkness… at least we now know the emergency lighting works!   Dave quickly arranged for play to continue at the Hackett Park outdoor courts (with Jazz concert alongside, much to the bemusement of our players!) and to resume play later that evening or on Sunday morning.

That said, this was a fun tournament for players and spectators whose cheers were a delight to everyone in the lounge and to players.  CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR WINNERS & PLAYERS and once again MANY thanks to Dave Surette, our Tournament Director!

Sunday November 18, 2023  - The Memorial Tournament

As always this event is held in memory of Club members who have passed but who the Club remembers fondly for all their support and the fun they had playing tennis. 

This year’s tournament had a good entry of men and women competing for the Winner’s title in the Loretta Copping and the Doug Lawson Placques.  The competition was fast and furious and was enjoyed throughout the day by spectators and participants alike.  This also included a delicious BBQ.  Thanks to all the helpers and players who made this a fine finish to the Club year.

Saturday October 28, 2023 - The Brudermann Cup

Friedl Brudermann is our long-term Club benefactor and Tournament sponsor.  This year’s round-robin competition was a fiercely contested day’s tennis, much enjoyed by Friedl himself.

Our members went toe to toe in this fun Doubles Round Robin Tournament. 

It was competitive and hard fought for points!  The entry had 16 players and those with the highest personal game scores progressed to the semi finals and onto the Final. 

Huge thanks to Friedl Brudermann for sponsoring this Cup and for presenting the trophy and a bottle of wine each to the winners.
