This Spring the Board of Directors asked the membership of 2024 for feecback to help the club more forward. The following are the results of that survey:

Weaknesses & Areas for Improvement & *CTC response

❌ Court Access & Booking System

  • The most common complaint is the lack of a court reservation system.

*CTC is currently working with Collingwood town staff to offer a booking system for all city owned courts.

  • Members struggle to find open courts, which makes it difficult to schedule matches, especially for doubles.

*CTC is working with the city to ensure that our tennis community will be served well with the creation of the Wilson-Sheffield park. The booking system could help with this concern.

❌ Facilities & Club Atmosphere

  • Geographic separation of courts (Mair Mills, Kinsmen, Princeton Shores) makes it difficult to create a true "club" feeling.

  • Members want a dedicated home facility with 4+ courts and a clubhouse to build community.

*CTC have discussed partnerships with private facilities but at this time a home facility is not feasible.

❌ Drop-In & Ladder Challenges

  • The ladder system needs rule enforcement to ensure players respond to challenges within a reasonable timeframe.

*CTC have created news rules around responding to challenges as well as overall change to the ladder to entice more play.

❌ Lack of Awareness for Programs & Social Events

  • Some members were unaware of the ladder or drop-in programs.

  • Social event participation was lower than expected, and better promotion is needed to increase attendance.

*CTC social committee is looking to increase attendance at events this summer by adding exciting games both on and off the courts.

❌ More Tournament & Competitive Play Options Needed

  • Members want more structured tournaments, including season-long and ability-based competitions.

  • Some requested doubles ladders in addition to singles competition.

*CTC has added a competitive doubles league and will be running a mixed doubles tournament this summer.

❌ Limited Engagement on Social Media

  • While email communication is effective, the website and social media are underutilized.

*CTC directors will make a concerted effort to use our social media more frequently to highlight events throughout the summer.

Final Takeaway:

CTC is a strong, welcoming community with active players who love the club. However, court access, facilities, and structured play opportunities need improvement. By addressing these issues, CTC can enhance the member experience, increase engagement, and continue growing as a leading tennis community in Collingwood.
