Racquets Down
UPDATE: DURING COVID
During Covid, the Racquets Down method is suspended because of distancing concerns. Instead, when you arrive, find the volunteer for the day and sign up for the next available round.
RACQUETS DOWN FORMAT FOR WEDNESDAYS, FRIDAYS AND SUNDAYS
- Members lay their racquets in piles of 4 at the specified location near the courts.
- Ideally, complete one pile before beginning next pile. Do not move other players' racquets. Do not throw your racquet onto a pile.
- When time is called, one player for each racquet pile will pick up all four racquets and go to their court. Do not pick up the racquets unless there are four racquets in the pile (wait until the pile is complete).
- Members on court must not have their second racquet in a pile. When time is called, players on court immediately finish their point then shake hands; then they can add their racquet to the existing piles.
- If a member removes their racquet, it will be replaced by the bottom racquet of the next pile.
- If a member leaves the courts for more than 15 min, they should remove their racquet from the pile.
- If you move a member's racquet, please confirm with that person that they agree to being moved
- Before scheduled club play begins, some players will arrive early and play socially. During that time, it is ok for them to have a second racquet in the racquets-down area. However as soon as club time begins, no one can have a second racquet in a pile when they are on court playing.
- Similarly, if one of the public courts is available, then club players can use that court and leave their racquet in the pile while they await the next 'court change'.
