FCTC PLAYER ETIQUETTE
- Spin a racquet to determine who serves. Winner can choose either to serve or receive, OR which side they would like, OR they can defer the choice.
- Server should announce score at the beginning of each point.
- If a ball from another court comes onto your court, roll the ball to the back of the other court, without interfering with the play on that court.
- If your ball rolls onto a neighbouring court and looks like someone may step on it, loudly call a safety let for that court. If your ball is at the back of their court, let the players on that court decide if they want to call a let.
- Never walk behind a court when the ball is in play.
- Do not hit balls that are out, but (especially at Parkade) do try to stop/catch the ball so it does not rebound onto another court.
- Players call balls on their side of the court. Respect their call.
- If you are unsure, then the ball is in.
- Treat fellow members with courtesy and respect.
- Bring a can of new balls. (Note: The Executive will usually provide balls, but bring a spare can in case balls get lost during play, or in case no Executive member is able to attend that day.)
- Turn down the volume on your cell phone.
- Wear appropriate tennis clothing.
- when time is called, stop play. Go to the net and shake hands or touch racquets, then walk to the racquets down area to add your racquet to a pile.
