Karl Vukobrat – Director of Operations, Tennis BC Hub

Karl is Canadian and has been teaching tennis for over 28 years. He has had the opportunity to travel around the world and teach in 17 different countries on all 5 continents. He started teaching in Montreal at the age of 17. At 23, he signed up with Club Med Resorts and fulfilled one of his goals, to be able to teach tennis in the tropics. After this, he was accepted with Peter Burwash International (PBI), an up-scale tennis management company, and spent the next 18 years working in 5-star Luxury Resorts.

His career highlights include working at 7 different Resort grand openings. Most recently in 2017, he opened the largest Resort in their portfolio, the 2,400-room Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas, including 9 tennis courts, 3 surfaces, and an active club membership. He also created a Tennis program on the small Caribbean Island of Curacao, which went from 0 to 200 weekly players using this 4-court facility, in just 2 years.

He won various awards with PBI, including “Runner-Up PBI Professional of the Year. In 2014, he achieved USPTA “Elite Tennis Professional” status. In the past 5 years, he has accumulated well over 10 pages of positive comments on both Trip Advisor and TennisResortsOnline.com

Karl is married to his wife from Mauritius and they have a young son. He returns to Canada to settle down with his family after a 22-year absence, this time in Beautiful British Columbia!
