A Brief History of LTC

FOUNDED in 1925.  The club played on wooden tennis courts on Cluade Road, near Goldstream Avenue.

1956:  The woodern courts were run down and sold to Dave Scafe for $425.

1957:  LTC paid half the cost of installing the courts at the current location of Centennial Park in Langford in exchange to have use of the land.   Art Wale owned the land in the name of Langford Frire Protection District.

1959, January 1st:  Confirmation from the Langford Frire Protection District that LTC could rent the land the courts were on for $1 per year.

1961:  The land was sold to the Queen in Rights of the Province of BC.

1977:  The land was granted by the Crown to the C.R.D.; and the club had agreements with the Juan de Fuca Parks and Recreation Commission for the use of the land.

1993:  The City of Langford bought the land and LTC was asked to find a new home.

1998-  The club moved to Royal Roads univeristy, sharing the courts that were orginally installed for the members of the Canadian Armed Foraces that use to call Royal Roads their home.

2023:  The club was given notice that staying long term on the grounds of RRU will not be possible, so the search for a new home began!
