TTC News - 2023-04-18

Now that the season is starting to pick up and we’re beginning to see people on the courts, we wanted to send out some info about the types of programming we’re planning to offer this summer. We’re significantly expanding our weekly programming to cover more times and player skill levels. All of this programming is included in your membership, so there’s no additional costs!

On Monday and Wednesday nights, we plan to offer three sessions, each with a different target participant. Here’s a rundown of the three sessions:

  • 6PM - 7PM: Junior Clinics - Juniors of all ages are welcome to come to these sessions. They’ll be introduced to tennis through lots of fun drills and games.
  • 6PM - 7PM: Learn to Play! - These sessions are designed to introduce new adult players to tennis and get them comfortable with the basics. We’ll also go over rules and etiquette so that participants are ready to start playing on their own and get involved in our other programs. This will be a great opportunity to meet other new players so that you can continue to play outside of the Learn to Play sessions.
  • 7PM - 8PM: Feeding Frenzy - For these sessions, the focus will be to get as many strokes in as possible so that you can continue to improve your game! There will be a number of fun drills that will get you moving and hitting lots of balls. Everyone is welcome to join in, as the drills will be great for any skill level.

In addition to these sessions, we’ll be continuing our fan-favourite Team Tennis league each Tuesday evening. For those of you who haven’t played Team Tennis in recent years, Team Tennis is a social doubles league where you’re put onto a team each week, and you play short matches against other teams. You keep track of the number of games you win each night, and at the end of the summer, we award trophies to the players who have won the most games, and who have improved the most. It’s a really fun way to start playing lots of doubles and meet a ton of new people!

Finally, we’ll be continuing our Friday night Blue Court Games sessions. Blue Court games are a series of fun, social games that will let you put the skills you’ve learned in our other sessions to the test. They’ll get you moving and may teach you some new things as well!

The plan is to start these sessions in late June or early July and run through the end of August. We’ll keep you all updated on how and when you can sign up, and if anything changes.

If you have any questions about these programs, or have any suggestions for new programs we could introduce, we would be happy to hear them. We want to offer what works best for you all!
