Every Thursday evening commencing May 29th, Liverpool Tennis & Pickleball Club will host a weekly doubles play round robin tiered competition exclusively for members. The primary objective of this Ladder is to foster a tournament-like atmosphere among peers of comparable playing abilities. Additionally, the Ladder aims to provide competitors with high-intensity play.

Upon the conclusion of the evening’s round robin play, participants will remain at their designated rung, be promoted to a higher tier, or demoted to a lower tier for the following week’s competition.

Initially, pickleball participants will be seeded based on last year’s results (approximately). New players will commence at the lower tiered courts. The evening play schedule typically spans 2 to 3 hours, commencing from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Should the demand for additional courts necessitate it, two sessions will be scheduled. These sessions will be held from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM and from 8:00 PM to 9:45 PM.

The Ladder structure will adopt a round robin format among the four or five participants at their respective tier/rung. Players are not assigned permanent partners and will engage in a single match with each competitor at their ladder rung. Advancement or demotion will be determined based on the following criteria:

1. The number of wins achieved on one’s court.

2. In the event of a tie in wins, placements will be determined by the best to worst points differential during the round robin play. Points are of utmost importance.

3. A coin flip.

The specific times and format may be adjusted based on the overall number of participants and evolving requirements. This may necessitate the completion of only one full round robin play during the evening. My immediate objective is to successfully complete two cycles of play.

Two evenings remain open to mixed pickleball enthusiasts (Sunday and Tuesday), as well as any times that the courts are not booked through the Club portal. Members are welcome to participate in the numerous unscheduled times and this ladder format. 

Kindly indicate your intention to participate in this format. Failure to respond will be interpreted as a lack of interest, resulting in your exclusion from the Ladder. Please inform me of your decision regarding participation.

You may choose to participate on a full-time or part-time basis.

Occasional absences and vacation periods are anticipated. While absences are unavoidable, please be aware of the potential consequences associated with late arrivals, unannounced absences, or frequent absences.
