Indoor Tennis Sundays at Cedar Hill Rec Centre
Sunday indoor tennis starts early October and continues through March. Please go to our Members Area and sign up for Indoor play. We have 3 courts from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. from October to December. We will also have three courts booked from January through March - time is yet to be confirmed. Cost is $16.00 per person per session. To ensure that all members have an opportunity to play, bookings may only be made starting 8:00 p.m. on the Sunday before the Sunday you wish to play. If there are already twelve people on the sign-up, you should put your name on the wait list, as someone may have to drop out and a late replacement may be needed. So sign up early if you want to assure yourself a place to play. Those on the wait list will automatically be put into the draw for the following Sunday unless they were called to fill in for the current week.
Courtesy Notes: If you have singed up but are unable to play, please notify the Games Director ASAP and call a player from the wait-list (circulated two days in advance of the date of play)to determine their availability. If there are no members on the wait-list you are responsible for finding a replacement. Otherwise, three people are left stranded without a fourth. NOTE: No-shows are obliged to pay the $16.00 fee. Please show up at least 10 minutes early to allow ample time to pay the contact person and get ready for your opening set. Please bring the correct change with you.
Format: The draws are made up ahead of time and posted. You play three sets of tennis, with and against different partners each time. You are allowed a 10-minute warm-up in the first set. Each subsequent set is 40 minutes long: the changeover times are indicated on the draw sheets. You can play the “first one in” for serve in the first set only. Deuces are played out. Balls are provided.
Outdoor Tennis - April through September
From mid-April through the end of September, the Club has 3 courts reserved on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to Noon, and 3 courts on Wednesdays from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. , at Oaklands Park on King's Road off Shelbourne Ave. We also have two courts at Banfield on Sundays, 10 a.m. - Noon, from mid-May through September.
Members sign up in advance for outdoor play just as they do for the indoor season. All matches are doubles, unless the number of members that sign up. necessitates some singles play. Each match is approximately 40 minutes, then players change and play with a different partner. Balls are provided.
VTC occasionally holds fun, partner-by-draw events throughout the year.
MIX AND MATCH CHRISTMAS TENNIS AND SOCIAL
