ALMONTE TENNIS CLUB COURT RENEWAL: RALLYING TOGETHER FOR A BRIGHT FUTURE

Our mission: To create top notch courts for safe and enjoyable play.  The Board is continuing to work with the Municipality and are very hopeful that the next few years will see us on track for new and improved courts.

Getting there is going to need your help.  Membership support and engagement will be imperative to making court renewal a Municipal priority and a financial possibility.

Please know that the Club is obligated under agreement with the Municipality to fully cover all annual maintenance and operation costs, AND to make significant contributions toward major capital projects including court resurfacing, fencing and lighting. The ATC has historically contributed 50% of costs incurred by the Municipality for major court improvement projects.

Many of you may recall the engineering study commissioned by the Municipality in 2022 looking at the court surface and subsurface resulted in a $400,000 estimate for the required work.

The Municipality is responsible for making applications for available Provincial grants.  We need to help the Municipality make a strong case.  This includes demonstrating that we have an active and engaged membership, are committed to promoting access and inclusion for community members, and that we have the financial resources to pay our share.

In 1991, when the last provincial grant for court renewal was received, the Club was advised of their ongoing obligation to set aside $2,000 every year in readiness for future capital expenditures.  That commitment has not been consistently met, consequently, your Board is working on a range of options to increase Club revenue so we can pay our share and make court renewal possible in the near term.

The funding muscle of our membership will be key to having well-kept courts ready for action into the future. Let’s rally together and turn hope into reality.
