The Newsletter

Each month, we update this newsletter that describes our Learn to Play Tennis activities for the month. The newsletter gives the location of the Learn to Play Tennis lessons, as well as days, times and costs.

The South Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club is seasonal and operates from mid May until mid September.  Read this newsletter for the Learn to Play Tennis Camps and lessons that we offer at the club.

Arbutus Tennis and Golf Club operates an indoor tennis facility year round. Read this newsletter for the Learn to Play Tennis activities that we offer at Arbutus Ridge.

Many tennis students participate in lessons at Arbutus Ridge during the winter and then switch to learning tennis in the tennis camps offered at SCLTC. Although it is not necessary to join the club to participate in the tennis camps, many students become members. There is no additional charge for student membership when parents or grandparents are club members. Please refer to the membership page.

The February 2020 newsletter

Hi all

The rallying and serving I see on the tennis courts is truly wonderful! Truthfully, I was in awe at seeing your children when I returned after not seeing them for 6 weeks on the tennis courts. The children are rallying cooperatively with each other and with all the coaches. Their movement is beautiful as well as purposeful. Simply lovely to watch.

General stuff for those who are attending Arbutus Ridge Tennis Bubble for the first time

  • Arbutus Ridge main building has washrooms on both the main floor and lower floor.
  • The entrance to the bubble has revolving doors that can be a bit tricky to use at first. Young children may need help with these.
  • The entrance has limited space with a bit of congestion when people are coming off the three indoor courts. It works well if those coming onto the courts move to the side where possible.
  • The courts are well maintained. We help by putting on indoor running shoes when we arrive. There is a coat rack for jackets and space below for outdoor shoes and boots.
  • There are chairs where parents may sit and watch. Dress warmly! There is also a coffee shop in the main building where parents can wait.
  • The fire extinguisher is to the left of the revolving doors at the entrance.

Getting onto the court

Art and his coaching team welcome students onto the court when it is time for their lesson.

Have fun
