Club News

Thanks to everyone for making the recent Open House/New Members Day another success!  In particular, we would like to thank Zach and Anna for their meticulous  preparatory work in the kitchen, as well as fantastic BBQ’ing skills… our hats are off to you both! And a big thank you to Carlos, from World of Tennis for hosting the racket demos.  We had a large and favourable response to this activity, and many rackets were demoed, and ultimately purchased.

Upcoming 2021 club events include:

• 1st Annual Marylin Aldworth Ladies Doubles Memorial Tournament

Registration is now closed as we have an even number of players (16). Thank you to all ladies who registered!  Please note that the finals and award ceremony will now take place the following weekend of the matches and will now be held on Saturday, August 21st, with times to be announced.  All members are welcome to watch the finals and/or attend the award ceremony. Refreshments will be served.

• NWTC Tournament

This is a club member only tournament. Registration forms will be coming out soon. The tournament will run from Saturday, August 28th, and finish on Saturday, September 11th, and will be followed by a Wrap-up Party and BBQ award celebration to be held Sunday, September 26th at 4:00pm. Juanita and Madeleine Nolan have kindly agreed to take on the role of Tournament Directors.  If anyone, would like to assist the Tournament Directors in their roles, please contact the President at president@nwtennis.com  

• Edith Webster Memorial Tournament Cup

This tournament is an annual one day competition between NWTC and White Rock Tennis Club. This year it will be hosted by NWTC, and will take place on Sunday, September 26th, between 10:00am and 4:00pm. If you would like to play or if you have any questions, please email webster.cup@gmail.com.

A couple of Club reminders:  PLEASE ALL MEMBERS:

You must sign in upon entering the club. You must also sign in your guest(s) and deposit your guest fee into the wooden box before proceeding on to the courts.  If you think you are the last one at the Club, whether its during the day or at night, please ensure you lock all windows and doors, including the sliding patio doors.

As well, always ensure the outdoor lighting is turned off and the alarm is set before leaving.

Finally, please also remember to follow the White Board rules as outlined on the deck window and in the roster booklet.  For the clarity of all players waiting on the deck or otherwise, please remove the score card covers and use the score cards, regardless of whether you are just intending to warm up or rally.
