Members' Update September 16, 2021

NEW WESTMINSTER TENNIS CLUB

MEMBERS’ UPDATE

Club News

Once again the NWTC tournament was a successful event. There was participation from many members, especially our new members. The matches were well organized, although there was some concern about the number of event categories.  The Board would like to thank Juanita and Madeleine Nolan and Chris Morrey-Jones for ensuring the tournament ran smoothly. Special mention to Lisa and Zach and Anna, for their wonderful jobs keeping the club clean and tidy and organizing and preparing the food.

The matches are now finished and a report on the tournament winners will follow in the Fall edition of the Passing Shots.

In order to satisfy the most recent PHO and TennisBC protocols and guidelines, the Board of Directors has decided to organize in-person proof of vaccination clinics. There will be 3 sittings starting September 17th, at the clubhouse where members can come and show their proof of vaccination. Proof of vaccination needs to be provided before a member can attend at the club or use the facilities.  Be aware that you cannot enter the club until such time as you have provided proof of vaccination to a member of the Board of Directors.

To best comply in a speedy manner there will be a manned table at the club open for registration of your vaccine passport. All a member needs to do is attend at the club and show their vaccination passport with proof of ID, at the following times:

  • Friday, September 17th; 6-9pm
  • Saturday, September 18th; 11am to 2pm; and
  • Sunday, September 18th; 11am to 2pm

If you cannot make any of these designated clinics you will have to arrange with a member of the Board of Directors to provide proof of vaccination before you enter the club or use the facility.

Please note that the Edith Webster Memorial Tournament will be taking place on Sunday, September 26th, 2021 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. We hope you will all come out and support our teams in this time-honoured annual event.

Until further notice, all future proposed social functions at the club will have to be pre-approved by the Board of Directors.
